Our Pastor
History:
Laurel Springs Baptist Church was established April 20, 1894 on open farmland donated by E. Z. Collings. Shortly thereafter the first church building was erected. Ten years later Mr. Collings barn was added as an annex to establish a Sunday School wing. The church experience continued growth which necessitated renovation projects in 1972 and 1992. Today, Lord willing we look forward to the addition of our Family Life Center. The church started with eleven men and women and currently there are approximately 120 families that comprise our membership.
Our Beliefs:
We are an independent Baptist Church. Our beliefs are founded in the Bible which we believe is the inerrant, inspired Word of God. Our purpose is to unite for worship, promote the gospel of Jesus Christ, aid in missionary outreach and build up our members in scriptural faith.
Meet our Pastor:
Dr. David C. Meldrum was raised in nearby Collingswood, New Jersey. While a member of Collingswood Methodist Church, he gave his heart to the Lord at age 17. There he felt called to the ministry and attended Barrington College in Rhode Island where he earned his Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy. He then attended Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating with a Masters of Divinity degree. His Doctor of Divinity degree was awarded from the University of Cambridge in London, England. Dr. Meldrum has faithfully served LSBC since 1969. His preaching and teaching ministry has grown the church significantly and drawn many people to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Pastor Dave is also active in the community of Laurel Springs where he serves as Chaplain for the Fire Department, the Police Department, and two local hospitals.
